The Baitsmith Swimbaits
were created by Eric Smith and released to the public in April of 2007. The
first swimbait to hit the scene was the 6" hitch swimbait which comes in two
models and twelve different colors. The original model weighs in at 1.8oz and
has a rate of fall of 7" per second. The heavy model weighs in at 2.1oz and has
a rate of fall of 14" per second. Both models feature a beefy 5/0 mustad hook
and come in the following colors: ayu, baby bass, black hitch, blue ghost, brown
hitch, chartreuse pearl, foxy shad, green hitch, purple magic, spring hitch,
trout, and zombie. With it's great attention to detail and it's kaleidoscope of
colors, it is easy to see why many tournament fisherman find themselves in the
winner's circle after having used this swimbait. The next little beauty to come
from Baitsmith was their Madgill series swimbaits. Keeping with the Baitsmith
dedication to detail and perfection in the water, the Madgill is like no other
swimbait on the market. It can be fished slow or fast, taunting the big girls
out of the deep cover and also works great as a bed bait. The Madgill swimbait
is .75x2.5x5" and weighs 1.75oz and has a rate of fall of 1.5 feet per second
and comes in four colors: crappie, madgill (bluegill), tilapia, and zombie gill.
In 2008 we saw the debut of the 9.5" Magnum Trout from baitsmith. This is truly
a big fish bait and is nothing short of amazing when you see in the water. The
Magnum trout is a whopping 9.5"x3.5"x1" bait and weighs 6oz and has a rate of
fall of 1.5 feet per second. The Magnum trout comes in three colors: light
trout, dark trout, and hatchery trout. You have to be in shape to throw this bad
boy all day, but the dividends out weigh the sore shoulders. The most recent
release from Baitsmith is the introduction of the new 5" shad swimbait. The shad
model has a newly designed tail that is "v" shaped just like a real baitfish and
feature uncanny realism with regards to the action and color. The 5" shad
swimbait is 5"x1.5"x.5" and weighs .75oz. |
