Splash It - Pop It

If your looking for a popper this is the one to get. I have been throwing these poppers for years and the quality of these baits is outstanding. They have stood the test of time and fish, many of them. It's great on schooling bass that are busting shad. I use 8lb mono on a Shimano Chronarch 50 with a medium light action and I am able to launch this bait with out difficulty. Yes it is a fairly light bait, which gives it versatility. It's a great bait when bass are tight to cover in skinny water, it lands softly. I love this bait, spring through summer.

This has been a great bait for me from spring through the fall. Any of the shad color baits will work great. My best success has come in the following situations: Early to mid spring - Throw the splash-it up tight to cover and twitch it once or twice and let it sit and hold on. Late spring through fall, fish quickly on points and in pockets and especially on wind blown banks. SN: bfishin.

The premier finnesse popper

The splash-it may be the most popular high end popper there is for good reason. At first glance the color schemes are nothing less than impressive and the design is perfect for the walking spitting action you expect out of high dollar popper. No expense was spared as even the tail is made with real feathers. Usually when I fish a splash-it it is with a quick walking action similar to what you would expect from a sammy. But instead of the traditional diving popping action you get a gliding spitting action. This allows you to cover more water and doesnt give the fish a good look at the bait in clear water. This is what the Splash-it was designed for fishing clear water. The spitting action is possible because of the sharp edges around the cup at the front of the lure. The lighter weight also helps keep the bait up but a little castability is sacrificed. But with a light casting shouldnt be a problem. I throw my splash-it on a 6'3m action rod with a heavy mono usually 15+. You need limp mono that can float and give the bait the action it needs. Like I said the Splash-it excels in clear water especially on rainy days. My most memorable topwater days have been with a Splash-it on a rainy spring day. If your going to invest in a popper I would suggest a Splash-it even if you are not sure you work it fast all the time. Even when I am fishing specific spots close to cover I find myself picking up a splash-it. The reason is you can work the splash-it close to cover slowly to start then when you get away from the strike zone speed up and get the bait in quicker while still having the chance at drawing a bonus strike away from the primary cover. Hands down if want a quaility popper this is it.
