Internal weighting allows the angler to balance his lure to achieve a specific result. If the desire is simply to make a bait work a little deeper, or to offset the effect of a breeze, placing the weight near the center of the lure -- just behind the hook -- works best. Inserting the weight at the tail of the lure causes it to sink tail first. Tail down also means nose up, so when you twitch a tail weighted bait it's easy to make it jump out of the water and skip across the surface like a terror-stricken baitfish. |

Add weight the easy way

These are a neat little trick to add weight to your flukes or senkos or frys. I use mine on flukes and frys mostly but they would work on senkos also. I also like to make homemade flying lures with these. Take a french fry bait with a flat bottom and put one in the back of the bait. The bait will glide backwards under docks or wherever. You can use a nail instead of these and they are cheaper but a nail of this thickness and density are hard to cut. I cut one once and the the end flew up and almost put my eye out. I now stick with these you can break sections off easy and its safe. They work on anything and while they wont make you load the boat they will keep your bait down better when it needs to be and put an extra couple fish in the boat at times.
