Anglers clamored for a wider bite hook
to use with Slug-Go®, but none of the wide bite hooks on the market
were long enough to properly balance the lure the way it was designed
to be fished, and they had no means of controlling the position of the
bait within that wide bite, to ensure that the lure stayed rigged
straight during fishing. A lure that doesn't stay straight on the hook
doesn't work in true, erratic, soft stick bait fashion.
Working with his Pro Staff and field
testers and seeking out the technical expertise of engineers at some
of the top hook companies in the world, Lunker City's Herb Reed set
out to design the ultimate, no-compromise, soft stick bait hook. Who
could be better qualified to develop the ultimate hook for Texposed
style rigging than the man who invented the Slug-Go (and with it
the entire category of lures we now know as soft stick baits or soft
jerk baits) in the first place? The end product, after three years
of design, testing and refinement, is the Texposer™ — the
first and only hook designed expressly for Texposed™ style rigging
of soft plastic lures.
Of course Reed specified top quality
all the way, including an incredible, chemically sharpened, needle
point, perfect barb and "slippery slick" black nickel
finish. Still, it's the unique shape of the Texposer™ that
sets it apart ... in particular, the "vertical gap bend"
and the reverse angle of the offset.
