Matt Lures Bluegill Series

I hear people talking about this bait as a bed bait and although it works well for that purpose it is much, much more. The best fish I have caught with this bait have been using it as a deep-water jig or skipping it under docks. I put it in 25+ feet of water and bottom-walked it like a jig and it has been awesome. It also has produced big for me when I have skipped it under docks. It frequently gets hit on the fall but if it doesn't I walk it back to the boat and it gets hammered. If you practice you can learn to skip it like an old flat rock and get it way back under docks and boats. Awesome, diverse bait.

When people talk swimbait the Mattlures Bluegill often comes up. And when people talk bluegill swimbaits it always comes up. The Mattlures Bluegill has become so popular as bed bait I think it actually hurt it some because people forget how versatile this bait really is. While not huge the Mattlures Bluegill is still a big fish bait and the colors are well...you can see incredible. The details are amazing and the action is dead on. As a bed fishing bait the nose down position is deadly and even if you dont get fish to eat it bedding bas get so mad you can often follow up with a smaller bait and catch the fish. The only thing you need to keep in mind is it so natural looking it is hard to see bed fishing. I add a red stinger treble anyway and thats usually enough but if your still having trouble seeing your bait I have a buddy who dyes the tails of his and he catches fish fine. But like I said dont limit this bait to bed fishing with its standup action it is the football jig of swimbaits. You can work this bait on the bottom or swim it. If I am swimming mine off the bottom I add the treble to the belly. While often imitated I havent seen a better bluegill imitation out there. If you want a bluegill swimbait get a Mattlures Bluegill. Just remember the plastic does tear so keep any tears patched up with glue and you will be suprised how long the bait lasts. sb-mrbassky1

I just bought the Mattlures bluegill. Let me tell you it is one of the most productive baits in the world. What more can you ask for than a lure that can do it all. The Mattlures bluegill can work as a surface bait, as well as a bottom bouncing bait. No matter which way it is fished it produces some violent strikes.
