Rebel Crankbaits
|
The Rebel Lures
company founded, in 1961 by George Perrin, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, began as a
custom injection molder. The company molded plastic parts for many firms in the
Southwest. The parts ranged from small "corner blocks" used in ready-to-assemble
kitchen cabinets to hand-finished cabinet doors, large decorative mirror frames
and "crisper" drawers used in Whirlpool refrigerators. Most of the time the
parts were never seen...they were on the inside as part of another product.
However, there was one product that was very visible. In fact there are hundreds
of thousands of them still in use today in homes across America. It is the wall
mounted dispenser for the 3oz. Dixie cup distribution centers throughout the
U.S. and Canada.
In 1963 Mr. Perrin,
an avid fisherman, set out to create a "minnow" style fishing lure, a lure that,
being made of plastic, would be consistent in its action and more durable than
any other lure of its type available. The first lure introduced was the 3 1/2"
Rebel Minnow. Its success came almost overnight. Demand quickly grew for other
sizes and styles of the now legendary minnows. In the process of creating this
lure, he had to give it a name. That same year, Fort Smith's new south side High
school was dedicated. Their football team was named, the "REBELS." The name
stuck and so did Rebel Lure. It wasn't long before anglers everywhere began
asking for other style lures... models that would sink, others that would run
deep, topwater poppers, and later, crankbaits. A host of Rebel lures, some early
models, are now legends.
Rebel Crawfish F76 &
Deep Wee D76 - Rebel Crawfish undoubtedly one of the most popular fishing lures
in the world. Its small life-like profile entices and catches all sizes of
gamefish especially bass, trout, and panfish. The versatile family of Rebel
Lures Crawfish are quite possibly the most productive series of crankbaits ever
made. Deep, shallow, suspending, cast, or trolled for virtually any freshwater
species there's a Rebel Crawfish that's designed to get the job done. The Rebel
Crawfish is 2" in length, weighs 1/5oz and is available in five different colors
(dives 5' to 7'). The Rebel Deep Wee is 2 3/8" in length, weighs 3/8oz and is
available in two fish catching colors (dives 8' to 10')
Rebel Deep Wee R
Crankbait - The classic shape and size of the Rebel Lures Deep Wee-R series have
withstood the test of time. These fishing lures are the right size for catching
that lunker bass. A long time classic, the Wee-R has a great wiggle and is easy
to retrieve. Anglers use the Wee-R as a fish locator around rocks, stumps and
submerged timber. The Deep Wee R is 2" in length, weighs 3/8oz and is available
in six different colors. |
