My favorite creek smallie bait

Few crankbaits have the crawfish looks of a rebel crawfish. While the action isn't special in a clear creek it is difficult to beat. It has a rolling action that is effective enough and smallies love. I fish mine on a 6'6 medium action rod and use a drag and stop action bouncing it off of rocks. But fish will hit on a straight retrieve in clear water if you need to fish faster. The one modification I make is changing the back treble to larger size. This doesn't hurt the action and I can handle larger fish better. The only problem is these baits don't cast well so you need a limber rod with a light line. I use 8lb test and the rod I use is almost a light action. Also its not a deep water bait it doesn't dive as deep as it says which is OK for small rivers and creeks. I don't take these to the lake but for moving water they are a must.
