Out West This Is Still A Go To Bait

I love me some zipper worms. It is a great compact flip bait that displaces a lot of water and doesn't get hung up much. But, it really shines from spring through fall as a Carolina rig bait with a 1/4 tungsten bullet sinker and a 2/0 gamakatsu hook. Purple/brown hologram and Black/grape will produce in most any condition and water color. Swimbait Nation: bfishin.

A unique flipping option

The zipper bait craze is over but the zipper worm is as good as ever. The zipper worm to me does 2 things. It gives you extra bulk without hampering hooksets and gives you a slower fall. This makes it an ideal flipping bait which is what you can tell the zipper worm is geared for by looking at the colors. I don't keep a lot of zipper worms but I keep some in my box of flipping plastics. Creature baits have stole a lot of the Zipper worms thunder but it is still a good flipping bait because few other baits with the zipper worms bulk can get through cover so easy. And most baits that bulky don't get the hookups. The small curl tail doesn't catch on much and the bait looks alive when shook with a unique look because no bait that bulky will bend back and forth when shook. Zippers may be a top go 2 bait for some people but not for me. It is still a valuable flipping option especially in the summer.
