SPRO Bronzeye Frog 65

I have caught so many fish on this bait that I have lost count. This bait is so versatile and totally realistic on the water. The SPRO Bronzeye Frog 65 can even turn around in a full spin! Just slowly drag it along some nasty weeds, and once you get through them, slowly start to walk it and HOLD ON! This is when they get hammered. This is without a doubt my FAVORITE frog ever.

When I got this bait, I thought I would only throw it in heavy cover areas like lily pads. After fishing the Bronzeye for a couple of hours, I couldn't believe the things this frog is capable of doing. I could "walk the frog" just like a Zara Spook and it resulted in huge blowups. The bronzeye can also be fished like a popper and makes a small splash that triggers bites. With a little bit of wind, I could even get the frog to dive below the surface by doing short jerks with the rod . That was something I had never done with a frog before that I thought was really cool. Its a great frog to start out with because the possibilities of retrieves are endless and very easy to do. There are certain things I look for in a frog. I want a frog with good hooks, a frog that has a design that hooks fish, and a frog that walks easily. The bronzeye frog has one of the best hooks around. The bronzeye frog has a softer plastic that folds easier than most frogs and it sits nose up so fish can get it easier. The bronzeye from walks easy because of it streamlined design. This is the frog I use now for fishing open water and mats. Its not my first concern with a frog but the colors on these baits are great as well. Castability is also great with these baits but most high end frogs cast well these days. While I cant say there aren't other good high end frogs because I haven't tried them all but you won't find a much better frog. I usually use a frog when fishing grass that is too thick for my buzzbait or when I want a topwater bait that will get big bites. Big bites are what frog fishing is all about and I only use braid with my frogs. If you need a frog I promise you won't find a much better one. sb-mrbassky1

This is the only frog that I fish when fishing mats. I switched over from snag proof about 1 year ago, and will not look back. The hooks on these are the sharpest that I have found. These come over matted vegetation really well. With a little practice, you can walk these like you would a spook. I have caught fish from dirty to clear water, from spring to fall in Indiana. I use a 7' MH rod with 65 lb. braid, and do not miss many with this frog. SN name: bd pettit
