Just a good all around line

With so many good lines out some get forgotten. Before I used P-Line or Berkley I used stren. For years pros like Denny Brauer used Stren only. No 3 words were ever spoken more in fishing lines than "clear blue stren". My dad fished 17lb stren for years and caught fish. And with superlines you forget how well a good mono like stren casts. I like braids and fluorocarbons but you cant beat the castability of a good mono. Stren is just a good line to put on rods you don't know what you want throw. I have several MH rods I fish spinnerbaits, flukes and tons of other baits on that I spool with 17lb stren. I would rather have a line that isn't the best with some baits than one that wont work well with certain baits I might want to use. While mono may not be the best line for every technique there isn't a big drop off in success is you have the right size line and good equipment, at least with most baits. If nothing else you need mono on a topwater rod and any short rod for making accurate casts around cover. There are better lines that stren but none is more versatile or manageable.
