This is one bait that really will help you finish out a limit. Many times i have caught doubles on this and a topwater bait. the very first double was a 4lb largemouth and a 3lb spot. The next cast produced two 2lb plus spots. In two casts i had 4 keepers out of the 5 needed. It works good with walking or chugging baits of any size.I've been using these baits ever since Bill Norman first brought them out. Also had the pleasure of meeting the guy who came up with the idea for the front runner, Dolye Hodgins.

I have a couple of these and thought they weren't available anymore. They aren't something you want to use all the time but at times they can make the difference in getting a limit. I only use mine when fishing for schooling fish because they don't cast great and are mainly an open water bait. I could see them working in clear water to trigger strikes with the chasing action it creates but I never used them that way. But when fishing for smaller schooling fish you can catch that valuable second fish which can be key if you don't have long to fish. You lose more fish and I haven't caught any bigger fish on these but if the schools only come up occasionally these can add that extra fish or two. The front runner only seems to work on walking baits for me usually a bigger Sammy or spook. But when casting to schoolies a little action can be sacrificed. If you fish a lot of topwater these can really help add to you totals.
