Agree with below

I agree with the difference between oil and water based products... That's why I apply MegaStrike oil based to my plastics, then spray it with YUM shad scent. My hookups have increased 2:1 when I've found them to be short striking. Try it - it works pretty well for me in the clear water reservoirs here in GA.

The top water based attractant

The first thing you need to know if you are buying an attractant is that there are two types. There are oil based and water based attractants. I dont know if they are actually based on water or oil but I read this distinction and most attractants fit into one of these categories. Water based attractants like YUM are usually the spray on type. You hear people complain that they could see the attractant come off when the lure hit the water-well thats a water based attractant. The oil based attractants are thicker and usually a jelly or gel and need to be applied with the anglers fingers. The advantage with the water based attractants is they disperse more in the water and make it easier for the fish to smell the bait. The gel based attractants stay on better. If you use attractants religiouly and your main concern is you want fish to hold on to a bait longer then this isnt what you need. But if your like me and you want that extra kick to make fish bite once you have them located then this is more up your ally. I use YUM mostly when sight fishing but if I get on a good finesse bite and I miss a fish I will give my bait a shot of YUM and toss it back. I think it helps get the fish excited because I know they smell it. I also give a my baits a shot of YUM before I make the first cast to mask and odors or scents on the bait. I dont know that it helps but its more of a confidence thing when it comes to masking. In short if you want fish to smell you bait get YUM, if you want your bait to taste good try one of the oil based attractants. sb-mrbassky1
